Teaching in the field of Christian Studies is a calling from the Lord I received at the age of 17. I came to believe then as I do today that God’s plan for my life is to share His Word with others. I’ve had the opportunity to fulfill this calling in many different formats, and for 25 years now I’ve enjoyed the privilege of teaching the Bible at Brewton-Parker. Unquestionably, the Lord is the source of my desire. God’s Word is relevant to every generation, and although delivery methods and life applications change, scriptural truth is forever the same and, I firmly believe, what is most needed by people of every age and culture. Putting biblical theory learned in the classroom into practice outside of it is, no doubt, the real fruit of Christian education. Hopefully, personally modeling the scriptural mandate to love God, neighbor, and enemy comes through in my teaching. Dr. Jerry Ray Associate Professor of Christian Studies Division of Christian Studies and Humanities I always knew going to college was something that was expected of me. By my senior year of high school, I had no idea if I was going to college or not, let alone where I was going. Living in Miami gave me many options where I could still live at home, but that’s not what I wanted. I wanted to play soccer at the college level, and I had gotten a couple offers from different schools. Thanks to some of my teammates signing to BPC, I made the decision to attend school here. I enjoy the peace that I find around campus, the personal attention I receive from professors, and the people I meet on campus. I am now in my last semester here, ready to graduate, and excited to begin the path of becoming an airline pilot. I am extremely thankful that God gave me the opportunity to come here and play the sport I love while furthering my education.
